Understanding Anxiety Disorders

Feeling anxious is a common experience, but when anxiety becomes overwhelming and affects daily life, seeking help is important. Anxiety disorders come in various forms, including:

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD):​

Individuals with GAD experience excessive worries about various aspects of life, leading to physical symptoms like headaches and stomachaches.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD):

Persistent irrational thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) characterize OCD, causing marked distress and interference in daily life.

Panic Disorder:

Sudden and intense feelings of fear or discomfort, often accompanied by physical symptoms like difficulty breathing and shaking.

Phobias: 

Intense fears of specific objects or situations can disrupt daily activities, such as avoiding social situations due to fear of negative evaluation.

Separation Anxiety Disorder:

Excessive distress upon separation from parents or home environment, leading to symptoms like clinging, crying, and school refusal.

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD):

Traumatic events can trigger symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, nightmares, and avoidance behaviors.
