Facts And Fees
Everything you need to know…
In this section, we provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about who we are, what we do, how we do what we do, and the fees for our various services.
Paying out of pocket for therapy rather than using insurance benefits can be advantageous for several reasons:
1. In order to bill insurance, we must give you a mental health diagnosis after the first session. Insurance companies would not reimburse a provider if no diagnosis was made. If your symptoms do not fit the severity of a mental health diagnosis, we must give you one anyway. For youth seeking military service in adulthood, this could pose a barrier to enlisting.
2. Insurance determines the length of each session (45-50 minutes) and how many sessions we can meet. Each person is unique and requires a tailored treatment plan and insurance makes that more challenging.
3. Many insurance plans only allow face-to-face or teletherapy sessions, usually one time per week. We often provide therapy via our military-grade HIPPA-compliant videoconferencing called “Simple Practice.” Stressors or crises do not always happen on a preset timetable, and having the flexibility to schedule sessions when, how often, and from where you want is important.
What is your fee for psychotherapy?
Individual (50-minute sessions): $180
Couple or Family Therapy (60-minute sessions): $185
Family Therapy (80-minute sessions): $225
Sex Therapy (60-minute session): $250 Cash Payment Only
Sliding scale is available based on need and family situation. Additional documentation (such as tax statements and payslips) will be required to verify the need. At ProSightful, we do not turn people away due to financial reasons alone. Discuss your financial situation with one of our therapists, and together, we will come up with a solution based on your financial situation.
In-Network Insurance
You may have mental health benefits through your health insurance policy or employee benefits plan that would cover therapy services. We are currently contracted with the following insurance companies as In-Network Providers: Aetna, Anthem, Anthem EAP, Cigna/Evernorth, Beacon Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cofinity/First Health, Coventry, Magellan, Midlands Choice, Military OneSource, Optum, United HealthCare UHC | UBH, and UMR. Our goal is to increase our network to make it easier for clients to afford services. Please check with your insurance company regarding policy specifics and copayments/deductibles. Here are some questions to consider and/or ask about:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible?
- How many sessions does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per session?
- Do I need approval from my family physician?
What forms of payment do you accept?
Out of Network Insurance
Additionally, if we are not a provider for your insurance, we will not bill your insurance directly because we will be considered an out-of-network provider. Most insurance plans accept out-of-network providers and will reimburse at some level for mental health services. We are happy to provide you with a monthly statement that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please verify your mental health benefits beforehand.
Cash Payment
ProSightful accepts Cash, Check, Zelle, CashApp, Paypal, Square mobile payments, and all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express). Payment is to be made at the beginning of each session. Please note that each returned check will incur an additional fee of $35.00.
Better Help
We also provide online counseling services through BetterHelp for Online clients who prefer monthly subscriptions. Click here if you will like to make an appointment through BetterHelp.
Scaling Fee Slots
At ProSightful we believe that therapy should be as accessible as possible, therefore we offer reduced-fee sessions on a limited basis. If you are interested in this option, please contact one of our counselors and we can discuss if this is a possibility for you.
Cancellation Policy
At least 24 hours’ notice needs to be given for any canceled appointments. If you give less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be responsible for a missed session fee that is not reimbursable by your insurance.
New Clients
Research shows that the connection between therapist and client is crucial for effective therapeutic work, therefore we offer new clients a free 15-minute video or telephone consultation.
What is your fee for consultation and training?
Individual and group consultation- 1 hour $150
Individual and group consultation- 30 minutes $75
Reduced rates for additional hours and packages to meet your specific needs are available upon request.
Training and workshops: Fees vary according to length, travel, and materials. Packages are available for those interested in ongoing, comprehensive training.
Scheduling: Consultations, training, and workshops are available by request for day, evening, and weekend appointments. We also provide individual or small group consultation via phone or video conferencing for people anywhere in the United States and other countries.
How long is each session?
We decide together. It depends on the intensity of symptoms or issues you are seeking to resolve. We can provide a brief, solution-focused treatment to address moderate issues in 6-10 sessions. These sessions are usually focused on skill-building and problem-solving of present issues. We can also delve into deeper emotional or relational issues that may need longer-term therapy to adequately address. We will decide together when you have reached your goals and when it is a good time to end treatment.
How often do we meet?
We decide together. Initially, it is beneficial to meet on a weekly basis in order to facilitate movement toward your goals. As progress is made, biweekly sessions or meetings every 3 weeks may be a better fit for you. If finances are a barrier, we can determine together how often you are able to meet.
How many sessions do I need?
A standard session length is 50 minutes. Extended sessions for couples work, and other needs are available depending on the intensity of treatment desired. For couples and families, we recommend 1-1.5 hour sessions in order to most effectively address the needs of each participant.
